A humid year. The rainy end to the summer caused the grapes to swell.

The low yields of 2003 encouraged significant flowering on the vine. Green pruning is essential in order to limit yields and ensure optimum ripeness levels are achieved.
The wines produced are smooth and offer aromas of blackberry, blueberry and a touch of liquorice. The palate reveals well-rounded, soft tannins. The wines are aged in oak barrels in order to support their natural tannic structure without concealing the softness of the fruit.

Reviews

Andreas Larsson

“One of my favourite St.-Emilion Grand Cru Classé wines. My Top Picks - The nose has some developments, some leafy armomas and red fruits, the palate is smooth with velvetytannins, there’s some sweet fruit there, a touch of spiceness and superbly elegant aftertaste. Realy nice to enjoy now.”

Guide Dussert-Gerber

“Sweden: Clear, dark ruby. Complex, bouquet, wild berries, minerals, truffles. Quiet smooth, developed, elegant fruit, good freshness, balanced tannins, fine persistence. France: Clear, dark ruby Discreet aromas of ripe, juicy, red berry fruits, lacks finesse. Heavy tones of chocolate with high spices, cloves, pepper, dry tannins, agressive acidity. Definitely need a steak. Japan: Somber, dense, black garnet. Notes of spice and minerality, leather, dry blackcurrant and fig, quite elegant, nice quality bouquet of medium intensity. More mineral in expression, caressing body in mouth, elegant and nice quality flavors, balanced with average persistence. Spain: Clean, brilliant, intense cherry red Plums and blueberries in liqueur, hint and aniseed, truffle and montain herbs, spicy notes with pepper, very aromatic bouquet of good quality and elegance with complexity and intensity too. Suave, very elegant, quite light, but evolving in mouth, very fragrant, excellent balance and flavor expression, aftertaste hint of fine reductive aromas, very deep and long persistence. USA: Medium + viscosity, medium purple core, pink rim. Dark fruits, earth, spice and finesse, nice quality, moderate + intensity Subtile red fruit, black notes with spice and truffle, black tea, spice, good quality, nice elegance and balance, drinking well, moderate + persistence. Nice easy to drink, well structured wine for now.”

Paolo Basso

Garde : 2015-2020”
